Books For Soldiers
Sending Books to Our Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan
What Is Books For Soldiers?
The Friends' Books For Soldiers program was started in December of 2003. The purpose of this program is to mail paperback books to the military men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Packing Parties are organized and held on a regular basis to pack the books for our soldiers. The Books For Soldiers program has been sending a package of books to an average of over 1 soldier per day! With your help we can reach even more soldiers.
How Can You Help?
There are several ways you can help our soldiers.
- DONATE FUNDS:
- Donate to the Books For Soldiers program at the monthly book sales, held the first Saturday of each month at the Alpharetta Branch Library (238 Canton Street in Alpharetta).
- Donate to the Books For Soldiers program by mailing a payment to FOTAL, 238 Canton Street, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Make checks payable to FOTAL and be sure to note that it is for the Books For Soldiers program.
- PACKING PARTIES:
- Join us for a packing party! Spend as much time as you would like helping us at our monthly 1 hour packing party, held at the Alpharetta Branch Library (238 Canton Street in Alpharetta). See the event listing below for the next scheduled Packing Party.
- Schedule a packing party for your company or organization! We show up with everything you need to make packages for the soldiers. Your donation is your time to package the books. To schedule a packing party, send a message using the contact info below.
- NOTES TO SOLDIERS:
- Write a note to a soldier using the postcards found at the Alpharetta Branch Library (near the checkout counter). Just drop your note in the collection box next to the postcards. We'll pick it up and mail it with books to a soldier!
- Write a note to a soldier and mail the note to us using the contact info below. We?ll forward it to a soldier who would love to hear from you!
